Some updates

October 20, 2009

So, the basic engine is pretty much done by now. We’ll start working on the Interface, and we should have screenshots of the GUI.

I haven’t updated because I’ve been busy finishing the Design Document for the Techdemo. 6000 words and counting! As soon as I’m done I’ll post more details about the project and possibly some concepts.

WIP: Player Ship

October 9, 2009

This is a very early WIP of the player ship, Endlines:

As of now, there’s a lot of work to be done, like fixing UV-Maps, fixing some parts of the texture, adding some shader maps, etc.

Basic design information

October 9, 2009

Just some very basic additional information.

The techdemo as we plan right now will feature one stage where the player will control a ship, called Endlines, and a “boss” ship. The player will start at a fair distance from the target. There are different parts in the boss that, if destroyed, will affect the ship in different ways.

As of now, we plan to have you control the ship with the mouse, with the aim centered. PoV will be first-person, but we might change either of these as we see fit. The player will have access to four weapons: Two different lasers, a Torpedo and a Bomb.

It’s a fairly simple design that should remind a lot of older people of the custom stages from X-Wing vs. Tie-Fighter/X-Wing Alliance, or even top-view shooters like Tyrian.

Welcome!

October 8, 2009

Welcome to the Endlines Dev. Blog.

Endlines is a space-shooter (like the old X-Wing/Tie-Fighter series) techdemo being developed independently by two people. I am Fernando, taking care of Art, Design and Sound, and my friend Abner is the Client/Engine Programmer.

The intention of this techdemo is simply to apply our acquired skills and knowledge with something concrete. While we have worked in different companies, we’ve been inspired by many of the recent independent developers and small teams to attempt to do something entirely on our own.

I’ll be releasing more details as we develop, as well as screenshots and sketches. Abner will be, as expected, posting about programming.

See you!
